A career high 35 points in the season-opener for the men’s basketball team on Oct. 30 has helped Ryan Benner become the Bethel College “Athlete of the Week.” The junior guard has gotten off to a scorching start by shooting well from everywhere – especially behind the arc. In his stellar opening performance, Benner went six for ten from downtown. Since then, Benner has continued his great play. He added in 15 points against Andrews University on Nov. 7 and then again versus Michigan-Dearborn on Nov. 15. Benner has helped the Pilots to a 5-1 record at the early stages of the season, and has the team gaining momentum heading into conference season. The first Crossroads League game comes at home against Spring Arbor on Nov. 20. There will not be an “Athlete of the Week” segment for the upcoming week during Thanksgiving Break. But remember to read the Beacon when you get back to find out all the important Bethel news!
