As Michiana sirens announced the possibility of tornadoes, Bethel launched its Emergency Notification-Storm Shelter.
Campus Safety Director Phil Jerome sent out an "Emergency Notification-Storm Shelter" e-mail around 9:30 a.m.
"This is an emergency alert activated by Campus Safety," said Jerome. "Seek shelter from the storm as quickly as possible. Go to your designated safe area (basement or the center of an interior room on the lowest level) away from windows, doors, and outside walls. Do not open windows. Wait there for further instructions. This is not a test. This is an emergency."
Earlier this morning Jerome sent out a "Weather Alert" e-mail.
"The National Weather Service has issued a tornado watch until noon today and a high wind warning with gusts to 70 mph until 8:00p tonight," said Jerome. "There is a chance of some severe thunderstorms passing through as well."
