Lady Pilots destroy competition in Mobile

The Lady Pilots softball team continued its dominance as they began the 2011 season. During their stay in Mobile, Alabama, the team gathered a record of 7-3. Although the team was 1-3 against ranked opponents, they dominated the rest of their competition. Overall, the Lady Pilots swung the bats extremely well as 11 players were able to leave Mobile with a batting average of over .300. Katie Boocher continued to be a positive lift at the plate as she hit .375, drove in nine RBI’s, drew four walks, and belted two home runs. Jenny Hedrick and Holly Weaver also hit well as they attained an average of .371. Danielle Reily also gave significant contributions as she hit .346, one double, and led the team with two triples. Reily and Weaver each led the team with eight runs scored. Giana Zimmerman gave extraordinary efforts on the mound, as she led the team with an ERA of 1.81 and 34 innings pitched. Boocher also pitched well during their stay as she pitched 21 innings and acquired an ERA of 4.33. Ali Holsclaw and Alyssa Zimmerman each pitched well as they earned ERA’s of 2.33 and 5.00 respectively. The Lady Pilots will return to action Saturday, March 19, when they take on Robert Morris University. Play is set to begin at 1 p.m. and 3 p.m.
