Opportunity to Service with St. Paul’s Senior Community

MISHAWAKA—The Service Learning Department is partnering with St. Paul’s Senior Community to host an event for the residents at St. Paul’s. This event will be held on Tuesday, Feb. 21, from 6 to 8 p.m. at St. Paul’s Senior Community on Ironwood Dr. in South Bend. Students interested in volunteering for this event should contact the Service Learning Department in AC 346 by Monday, Feb. 20. This is the first time Bethel has partnered with St. Paul’s to put on an event like this. In the past, Bethel cultivated a relationship with the facility by sending students there for Bethel’s annual Service Day.  

This event is looking more at cultivating community between younger and older generations. Ana Dekker, a student worker in Bethel’s Service Learning Department, is assisting with publicizing this event to students.  

"We will be helping walk residents to party,” Dekker said. “Bethel [can] get into the community and just serve.” 

Along with walking assistance, there will be time for students to enjoy a photo booth, eat some light refreshments and have fun with older generations.
