Lady Pilots suffer a tough second half at Cornerstone

 -  -  41

The Lady Pilots recently competed in the MCC/WHAC Challenge which was held at Cornerstone University. In the first round of play they were able to shoot an impressive 60 percent from the field and claim a 74-61 win over Madonna University. However, their six game winning streak was snapped the next day as they fell to number 17th ranked Cornerstone University. Senior Heather Seyfred shot extremely well for the Lady Pilots in their opening game against Madonna, shooting four of nine from the three point line and putting up 20 points. Senior Bekah Basinger was right behind Seyfred with 18 points, while senior Mandy Yoder had nine points and ten rebounds. On the next day, the Pilots came out very impressive against Cornerstone and had achieved a 47-41 lead at the half. In the second half, the Lady Pilots were unable to receive any type of rhythm or scoring as they went on a nine minute drought without a single basket. As a result, Cornerstone was able to go on a 17-0 run and outscore Bethel by a whopping 20 points in the second half. The Lady Pilots will look to rebound from their disappointing loss from Cornerstone as they open up conference play on the road Tuesday. The women’s team will travel to St. Francis and the game is set to start at 7:00 p.m.
