Last weekend the men’s and women’s track teams traveled back to Grand Valley State University, where they continued to make progress on the 2011 indoor season. In addition to those who claimed an NAIA qualifying time last week, three more reached the same mark. Trisha Miller hit an NAIA qualifying time in the 5k while claiming a fifth place finish. Kate Carr finished sixth in the pole vault, which gave her a qualifying measure as well. This makes a total of five women that have hit the NAIA mark just two meets into the indoor season. The other NAIA qualifier was on the men’s side, where Calon Boyd claimed the men’s first qualification. Boyd was able to hit the mark in the triple jump which gave him a first place finish on the meet. Boyd also competed well in the long jump, where he earned sixth place at the meet. The men’s and women’s teams will next be traveling to Indiana Wesleyan this coming Saturday, where they will look to continue to earn top qualifying times.
