Lady Pilots open season in New York, drop two

 -  -  40

After traveling to New York to open up their 2011 season, the women’s soccer team was shutout against both Roberts Wesleyan and 18th ranked Houghton College. Nevertheless, it was valuable experience for the Lady Pilots that they hope to use later in the season. The team left Thursday morning along with the men’s team as they traveled by bus. Following their arrival, the team was forced to quickly loosen their legs and play with intensity. The Lady Pilots first matched up against Roberts Wesleyan on Friday. The team put plenty of pressure on the Raiders but trailed 1-0 at halftime. From there, Bethel was unable to capitalize on any Roberts Wesleyan mistakes and the Raiders went on to win 3-0. The next day the team faced Houghton College. It was a tough battle for the Lady Pilots who did what they could to stay close but the Lady Highlanders eventually grabbed a 4-0 victory. Following the long trip back to Bethel, the Lady Pilots will not have much time to recover as they will be back on the field Tuesday night as they host Cornerstone University. The team’s home opener is set to begin at 7:00.
