Pilots down Madonna 2-0, prepare for MCC

 -  -  43

The men’s soccer team improved their record to 4-3 last Tuesday as they hosted and defeated Madonna University by a score of 2-0. The first half was a physical battle for both teams. Although the Pilots controlled the possession most of the way, they were unable to capitalize. Nevertheless, Eduardo Fernandez was able to put a left-footed goal in the back of the net at the 68th minute. In addition Romolo Nobrega scored on a corner kick from Bernardo Sant’Anna just a few minutes later. There was a lot of credit given to the Madonna defense as the Pilots were able to play offensively for most of the game putting up a total of 31 shots. Meanwhile Cody Troyer remained solid on the other side of the field as he collected three saves during the shutout. The team will begin their MCC regular season this Saturday as they make the long trip to Mount Vernon Nazarene University.
