News of the South Bend and Mishawaka area will be easier to come by for Bethel students. As of Sept. 29 the South Bend Tribune will be stocked at the Dining Commons, the Academic Center and dormitories for students to read and keep, free of charge. The newspaper had been missing on the Bethel campus in recent weeks because the school's contract with the newspaper expired. “It took a little time,” said Ed Bernhard, director of auxiliary services at Bethel College on Wednesday. “They are notifying their delivery departments.” The Tribune was available last year, but the contract ran out mid-summer. Bethel College receives the papers from the Tribune at a discounted rate, and was able to reestablish the contract recently. Many students and faculty complained about not having the newspaper on campus while it was missing. “I have to say I was surprised,” said Bernhard, in regards to those who voiced concern. “I thought that was encouraging.”
