Men’s basketball introduces season with Tip-Off Madness

 -  -  33

The men’s basketball team introduced the 2011-2012 basketball season Monday Oct. 31, on Halloween night. Although the night consisted of the usual contests and events, this year’s Tip-Off Madness was unique as a large portion of the students showed up sporting their Halloween costumes. Following the introduction of each member of the men’s basketball team, the annual dunk contest was held. Each contestant had a mixture of creativity and skill and Chelsea Ward was able to walk away with the first place finish. In addition, a number of students competed in the tricycle race as well as the cheeseburger race. There was also a judging for Halloween costumes and the winning group was awarded $100. Lastly, Alex Reinhard was chosen to contend for this year’s three point shootout for $10,000. Despite a late effort, Reinhard was unable to bring home the money. In addition to giveaways, judgings, and competitions, the night was used to introduce the Pilot basketball cheers to freshmen and newcomers. Overall, the student body was eager to support their team as Wiekamp Wackos. The team opens up their season this Wednesday Nov. 2, as they travel across town to take on Holy Cross. Their home opener is Friday Nov. 11, when they will host Kuyper College in the Bethel College Classic.
