Despite dropping a heartbreaking conference game to Goshen earlier in the week, the Pilots were able to easily route the Marian Knights by a score of 5-0. With this victory, Bethel was able to finish the regular season with a conference record of 7-2, and an overall record of 11-5. The Pilots ended their regular season with this victory and gave their seniors a strong triumph to go out on. Romulo Nobrega, Bernardo Sant’Anna, and Rafael Borges scored the first three goals of the Saturday afternoon, giving the Pilots a comfortable lead for their seniors. Tyler Ormsby added an early second half goal, while Nobrega put the Knights out of their misery with his second goal of the afternoon. Seniors recognized at the game consisted of Ryan Needs, Bernardo Sant'Anna, Kyle Dantzer, Jason Milbrodt, Romulo Nobrega, Rafael Borges, and Jon Rogers. Many of these players saw a lot of action throughout the game including goalkeeper Kyle Dantzer who replaced Cody Troyer in the second half. With the regular season over and the Pilots on a high note with plenty of momentum, they will now enter the conference tournament as the number two seed behind Taylor. The tournament is set to start next Saturday Oct.29 and Bethel will host the seven seed Saint Francis. If they are able to advance, they will take on the winner of Spring Arbor and Indiana Wesleyan. The Pilots were able to squeak by Saint Francis earlier this season with a 2-1 victory.
