Pilots crush Saint Francis, advance to semifinals

 -  -  70

It was business as usual for the men’s soccer team on Saturday Oct. 29, as they advanced to the second round of the MCC tournament by defeating Saint Francis 5-0. Despite the chilly conditions and wet field, the Pilots were able to dominate the time of possession and create offensive opportunities. Luke Davis put Bethel up within eight minutes of play and then provided two assists for Bernardo Sant’Anna and Tyler Ormsby as well. As a result, the Pilots went into the half with a productive 3-0 lead. Nevertheless, the Cougars came out with a lot of intensity trying to shift the momentum their way early in the second half. Consequently, the Pilot defense was able to step up with a couple of huge stops led by goalkeeper Cody Troyer. In addition, Davis continued his excellent play by chipping in another goal, while Timothy Wilson put one into the back of the net as well to give the Pilots a 5-0 victory. Bethel now advances to the MCC semifinals, which means that they will host the three seed Spring Arbor next Saturday Nov. 5 at 7 p.m.
