Women’s golf team takes third at NCCAA Tournament

 -  -  32

The women’s golf team finished their fall season in very strong fashion during the week of Oct. 24, as they took third place in the NCCAA National Tournament held at Panama City, Florida. Overall, the team shot a 329-337, which was 24 strokes behind the tournament champion Dallas Baptist. Although the team has been led by a number of golfers all season long, Jessica Layman was able to use her experience and talent to collect the top Bethel score with a combined 161. This gave her a sixth place finish and as a result, Layman was added to the All-Tournament team. Melanie Day was right behind her in ninth place with a combined score of 164. In addition, Katie Powell and Erin DeVries finished in 12th place, each with a score of 172. The Lady Pilots completed another successful fall with this tournament and will now head into the offseason with hopes of improving for the spring’s NAIA National Tournament.
