Boyd collects three first place finishes at IWU

The men’s and women’s track teams were paced by strong performances again last weekend at Indiana Wesleyan. In addition to several personal best recordings, the two teams collected a total of eight first place performances. Kate Carr continued her great indoor season with another strong performance in the pole vault. Carr jumped 3.74m, which earned her a first place finish. Cinamin Green also contributed a first place performance for the women’s team with a throw of 13.27m in the shot put. Dominique Dvojacki was the third first place finisher for the Lady Pilots, as she attained a time of 1:42.39 in the 600m. Other notable performances for the women’s team consisted of Lauren Dudley in the 600m, Christina Adams in the 1K, and Kaila Stevens in the 400m. The men’s side collected a total of five first place finishes on the afternoon. Calen Boyd proved himself as the Pilots most valuable athlete with three first place finishes. He won the 60m dash with a time of 6.99, the long jump with a jump of 7.04m, and a triple jump distance of 14.29. Ahrin Lemacks also collected a first place finish in the 200m with a time of 23.25. The last first place finish was the 4X800 team that consisted of Tim Sipe, Kyle Beutler, Robby Gingerich, and Logan Kimmel. Other top finishers for the Pilots were David Foura in the 1k and BJ VanderZwaag in the weight throw. The next even for both track teams will be next Saturday Feb. 4, when they travel to Taylor.
