Bethel The­atre Places High in Re­gional Com­pe­ti­tion

MADI­SON– KCACTF is the Kennedy Cen­ter Amer­i­can Col­le­giate The­atre Fes­ti­val. Bethel Col­lege is a part of Re­gion 3 which in­cludes two and four-year col­leges from In­di­ana, Michi­gan, Wis­con­sin and parts of Ohio. Every year, the The­atre De­part­ment show­cases its stu­dents’ abil­i­ties for rep­re­sen­ta­tives from var­i­ous col­leges through­out the re­gion. 

This year, the fes­ti­val oc­curred in Madi­son, WI. Bethel fac­ulty mem­ber Deb Swer­man as­sessed and re­sponded to the Irene Ryan Act­ing Schol­ar­ship Au­di­tions while Don Hunter as­sessed and re­sponded to the set-up and tear-down prac­tices of the in­vited plays. Bethel fac­ulty mem­ber Jo­han God­walt ran and or­ga­nized the Stage Man­age­ment In­ten­sive. 

Sev­eral Bethel Col­lege stu­dents placed highly dur­ing com­pe­ti­tions at the fes­ti­val. Macy Young, sopho­more, was the scenic de­signer for the first-place team in the De­sign Storm com­pe­ti­tion. Steven White, ju­nior, and Gabrylle Perkins, sopho­more, placed in the top six­teen out of ninety-two stu­dents for the Mu­si­cal The­atre In­ten­sive. Erin Scott, ju­nior, placed in the top thir­teen out of forty stu­dents for the Stage Man­age­ment In­ten­sive. Fi­nally, Sid­ney Sprunger, ju­nior, and Grace Spencer, se­nior, were cho­sen to stage man­age two of the new plays that were show­cased at the fes­ti­val. 

Ad­di­tion­ally, Kayla Rundquist, se­nior, was one of the first stu­dents af­forded the op­por­tu­nity to au­di­tion for post-grad­u­a­tion work with pro­fes­sional the­atre com­pa­nies from the states that com­prise KCACTF re­gion 3.
