Bethel Pilots Compete in NAIA Swimming Nationals

MISHAWAKA – The Pilots men’s and women’s swim team recently traveled to Knoxville, Ten. for the NAIA National Swimming Championship. The men finished the championship with eight program records, three top 20 performances and two top 25 performances. Arik Gamble, Dylan Delong, Nick Jozwiak and Logan Berndt finished the 800 free relay in 18th place, 17th place in the 200 free relay prelims and established a new program record. Nick Jozwiak, Alfonso Flores, Logan Berndt and Arik Gamble finished in 19th place in the 400 medley relay prelims and established a new program record. Logan Berndt also established a new program record in the 50 free and the 100 fly prelims.  

The women finished top twelve in the nation in both the 200 free relay and the 400 medley relay and broke program records in seven of twelve events they competed in. Sarah Hyska, Vivienne Kunkler, Abigail Barnes and Elisabeth Wolfe finished in 14th place in the 400 free relay finals, breaking a program record. Vivienne Kunkler finished 13th in the 200 breast finals, breaking a program record. Elisabeth Wolfe finished 18th in the 100 free prelims, breaking a program record.
