The H20 Project is all about saving lives, and when people don’t have clean drinking water that becomes a challenge. In fact, in some parts of the world, one child dies every 15 seconds for lack of clean drinking water and 1.1 billion people are without it. There’s a solution for this disparity: provide clean water. H20 Project seeks to do this by calling attention to the dire conditions and by challenging people to fund water-giving organizations. H20 specifically challenges people to forego all beverages besides water for two weeks and give the money they would have spent on those drinks toward supporting water provision. Money donated helps primarily to drill wells in developing and underdeveloped countries. “It would take so little to really make a huge difference,” said junior Nich Strickland. “The problem is, not enough people know about it. If they knew, I’m honestly convinced they would care.” Strickland initiated the H20 challenge at Bethel after feeling personally convicted and inspired to take action. The challenge runs from Nov. 1 through Nov. 12 and any donations can be given to Strickland. ___
