Lady Pilots fall convincingly to Knights

 -  -  45

Despite their two recent convincing wins over Goshen and Spring Arbor, the Lady Pilots were unable to capture a win over the Marian Knights last Saturday as they fell by a score of 80-59. Although Bethel was able to hang with the Knights for a while following the tip, Marian quickly got red hot and claimed a 41-19 lead at halftime. Although the Lady Pilots did outscore Marian by one point in the second half, it was not enough of an effort to climb back into the game. Overall, the team shot 21% from the field compared to Marian’s 45%. Although the main three scorers for the team found ways to get to the basket, they failed to find a variety in their scoring as they only received three points off the bench. Heather Seyfred led all scorers on the day with 22 points, while Mandy Yoder chipped in 18 points, six assists, and five rebounds. Bekah Basinger also contributed nine points, while Kristin Hicks added seven. As a result, the Lady Pilots fall to 7-8 in the conference which puts them at fifth in the MCC. They now close out their season next Saturday when they take on the Taylor Trojans, who are currently 5-9 in the conference. Tip-off is slated for 1:00 p.m.
