Men’s soccer stays unbeaten while in New York

The Pilot men’s soccer team was very productive following their long bus ride to New York. Bethel was able to come back to beat the Raiders of Roberts Wesleyan 2-1, and fend off Houghton College 3-2. The Pilots had difficulty early in the game against Roberts Wesleyan, which may have been a result of the long bus trip it took to get there. As a result, Bethel was quickly losing 1-0 after the 6th minute of play. Nevertheless, Luke Davis was able to tie the game at one a piece after a blast past the goal keeper from slightly less than 18 yards. From there freshman Timothy Wilson was able to score on a one-on-one with the goal keeper near the right post. This go-ahead goal was the game-winning goal as the Pilots escaped with a come-from-behind victory. Following the clutch win over the Raiders, the team matched up against Houghton College who is currently receiving votes in the NAIA top 25. Despite the Highlanders scoring two goals on the Pilots, which is the most Bethel has given up all year, the team was able to claim a 3-2 triumph. Bernardo SantAnna came through in a big way for Bethel with two goals, while Romolo Nobrega scored off a corner. The Pilots are now 3-0 on the season and will next be in action this Friday and Saturday as they host the Waterford Estates Fall Classic. The team will face Indiana Institute of Technology on Friday at 7:30 and Illinois Institute of Technology Saturday at 7:00.
