The men’s soccer team was unable to capture a victory Friday or Saturday night last weekend as they hosted the annual Waterford Estates Fall Classic. Despite heading into the classic with no losses, the Pilots fell to Indiana Institute of Technology 1-0 and Illinois Institute of Technology 2-1. The Pilots played a very tough battle against Indiana Tech late Friday night and found themselves in a late defensive battle. However, shortly after the 88 minute mark, Indiana Tech was able to gather a goal by deflecting a kick off of a Bethel defender into the back of the goal. With no time to rally, the Pilots surrendered their first loss of the season. Due to all of the rain in the area, Saturday’s game was moved to the Indiana Invaders FC facility. The Pilots took the early lead against Illinois Tech as Gerardo Carrera put one into the back of the net at the 6:18 mark of the first half. Nevertheless, Illinois Tech would gather themselves and produce two quick goals off of a cross and a corner to take the 2-1 lead. The Pilots battled a man down in the second half due to an early red card but was unable to even the game. Next Saturday the men’s soccer team will host the seventh ranked Azusa Pacific University at 3:00 p.m.
