Women’s soccer drops MCC opener to Taylor in 2OT

 -  -  43

The Bethel women’s soccer team fell in a long hard fought battle on Sept. 28, as they were downed by the Taylor Trojans in double overtime by a score of 2-1. This was a tough loss for the Lady Pilots as they looked to make an early statement in their first MCC game of the season. In the 23rd minute of play, the Lady Trojans were able to take the lead with a deflected goal putting them up 1-0. Despite being outshot throughout the remainder of the game, the Pilot defense stood strong giving Nicole Steller an opportunity to step up and deliver a goal which would tie the game with a little over six minutes remaining. Unfortunately, the lack of time of possession for the Lady Pilots would come back to hurt them late in double overtime as Taylor was eventually able to take the go-ahead goal. The Lady Pilots have already revealed a number of improvements they have made from prior years and look to rebound strong this Saturday as they host Saint Francis at 1 p.m. This will be a key matchup as they Lady Pilots make their push to stay up with the top teams in the conference standings. Saint Francis is currently 0-1 in the MCC as well after a 0-1 loss to Mount Vernon Nazarene University.
