Lady Pilots, Steller thrash Maple Leafs 4-1

 -  -  44

After dropping their first two MCC matchups of the season in hard fought battles, the women’s soccer team Trounced Goshen College by a score of 4-1. Although the Maple Leafs came into the game with a 0-2 conference record along with the Lady Pilots, they proved themselves a team not to be overlooked as they quickly scored within the first four minutes of play. However, from there it was all Nicole Steller. As the first half progressed, Steller was able to chip in a free kick to tie the game up at 1-1 going into half time. From there, she blasted a go ahead goal early in the second half after an assist from Pua Hall. Although the Maple Leafs tried to adjust to stop the sizzling Lady Pilot offense, Steller continued the surge. She would connect on two more goals due to assists from Kristyn Burt and Kristen Zeilenga and nearly score off of a breakaway with less than two minutes remaining. The Lady Pilots have gotten off to a rocky start in the MCC against two quality opponents, they have made a clear statement that they can compete with anyone on a given night due to their playmakers. The next game for the Lady Pilots will be Friday Oct. 7, as they host the 11th ranked Spring Arbor Cougars. Play is set to begin at 7 p.m.
