Despite the Lady Pilots playing at an extremely high level the last couple of weeks, it all came to an end on Dec. 9 as they traveled to Joliet, Illinois and fell to Saint Francis (IL) by a score of 71-64. Bethel opened up the game solid and battled the Saints to an even 11-11 score. Then, everything went wrong as they failed to execute, hit big shots, and play defense. As a result, the Lady Saints went on an 18-6 run and eventually led at half time 37-21. It was not a pretty first half for Bethel, shooting 24 percent from the field and turning the ball over 14 times. The Lady Pilots came out with plenty of heart in the second half and relentlessly tried to recapture the lead; however, they could not recover from the first half hole they had dug themselves. Laura Johnson led all scorers with 20 points, while Georgia Boisse scored a career high of 17 points. With this loss the Lady Pilots are now 11-2 on the season but remain 3-0 in the MCC. Their next game will be Dec. 20, when they host Indiana University Northwest. Tip-off for that game is scheduled for 7 p.m.
