The Pilot track team was highly successful in their second straight weekend appearance at Grand Valley State. Senior Calen Boyd continued his great career at Bethel with a second place finish in the long jump. Boyd jumped 7.04m, which hit the NAIA mark. In addition, Boyd placed seventh in the 60m dash. The men’s team was also paced by the 4X400m relay team of Robby Burns, Calvin Lewis, Talal Maree, and Boyd. In the weight throw, Ryan Carlock claimed a fifth place finish. As successful as the men were, the women seemed to find even more success, hitting three NAIA marks. Those making the NAIA measure consisted of Kate Carr in the Pole Vault, Kaila Stevens in the 400m, and Cinamin Green in the shot put. The women’s team also put together a strong 4X400 team which consisted of Stevens, Sam Etter, Arielle Byl, and Irene Kangai. The team put together a time of 4:06.58 and gave them a sixth place finish. The track team will next be in action on January 28, when they travel to Indiana Wesleyan.
