Pilots volleyball upsets IWU

Bethel College volleyball teams have been unable to snag a victory against an Indiana Wesleyan team for 10 straight matches, over four seasons. Until now. On Friday, Sep. 13, the Pilots women’s volleyball team defeated the Wildcats in three sets: 27-25. 25-21, 25-21. Not only did they get a win, but they also upset their long-time rival, who was ranked no. 20 in the NAIA before the match. "We had a great team effort tonight," praised Coach Kevin Ulmer, in an interview with bethelcollegepilots.com. "Our back court was lights out! Our passing was great, serving was very good, and our defense was unreal. “ Senior outside hitter Alicia Carlton led the team in digs, with 16, and kills, with 10. Senior Morgan Fox kept the Pilots going throughout the match with an impressive 38 assists. Middle hitters Aubrey Husak and Mallory Gilkey also served up impressive individual performances with 10 and 6 kills, respectively. IWU had solid effort throughout the game, keeping the Pilots to only .169 efficiency on the court. However, Bethel fared even better, keeping the Wildcat’s offense to .124 efficiency. The Pilots next match is against the Marian University Knights on Saturday evening, in Indianapolis. The first serve is slated for 5pm. Be sure to support your fellow Pilots!
