Bethel College adding Chick-Fil-A to Dining Commons

4.1ProjectBethel College will soon be providing its students with a new dining option: Chick-Fil-A.  The fast food dining option is set to be built and ready to serve students by the fall semester of 2017. Renovations are expected to begin following this year’s graduation ceremony in May.  The fast food restaurant will be added onto the west end of Bethel College’s dining commons building. This chicken-filled addition to campus is the result of a generous Bethel College community supporter anonymously donating $15 million to the college.  As a result of this unforeseen blessing, the college has decided to invest the money into the betterment of the campus’ overall appeal. This new Chick-Fil-A is one of four various improvements scheduled to be made to Bethel’s campus.  Other improvements to campus will include a giant wall surrounding the college and campus safety’s new armored car fleet.  These new additions are part of the Bethel administration’s “4-1 Project,” which the college has branded as "4 projects, 1 campus." This comes as welcoming news to many who have grown up loving the chicken-based fast food company.  Bethel College sophomore Janet Hartworth is one of many students who enjoyed hearing about this new development when it was announced Friday morning. “When I first found out I was so shocked,” said Hartworth, “I always thought that my school was unable to provide edible food.  Looks like I’ll actually be using my swipe card again.” Students will be able to pay for their chicken sandwiches and nuggets with Bethel Bucks.  Prices will remain consistent with other Chick-Fil-A sites.  However, the good news for Bethel students doesn’t end there.  Students can receive a free small lemonade with every purchase.  The restaurant hopes to eventually accept meal swipes as well, but has no date set as to when this will be an option. The site will also provide students a chance at receiving an on-campus job for the year.  Newly appointed Bethel College Chick-Fil-A manager Enrique Charles believes that this will provide students with a great vocational opportunity. “These students know what it means to work hard day in and day out,” said Charles, “We look forward to working with these students as they pay off school debt and earn money through a quality learning experience.” The new arrival of Chick-Fil-A to Bethel will undoubtedly provide great excitement amongst the campus.  One thing’s certainly clear.  This new dining option and the rest of the “4-1 Project” almost seems too good to be true.  Especially considering that it was all announced on April 1… We thank the Bethel administration for all their hard work, and remember, have a very happy APRIL FOOL’S DAY!
