MISHAWAKA- Mission’s BBQ opened on Main St. on April 19 and is located between Qdoba Mexican Eats and Portillo’s. The restaurant chain opened its first location on Sept. 11, 2011, the tenth anniversary of 9/11, because the owners wanted to make it their mission to serve great BBQ to our country’s brave soldiers and veterans. According to a quote on their website, mission-bbq.com/our-story, the franchise strives to maintain a patriotic theme.

“Every day we strive to serve you authentic BBQ made from the freshest, most delectable ingredients, and serve it to you in a patriotic dining room filled with tributes to those who’ve made Our Country great, given to us by the people who earned them. Stop by at lunchtime, and you might catch us during our daily salute to the Stars and Stripes.”

The owners of Mission’s BBQ have found ways to give back to people who protect our lives, liberty, homes and community. Mission’s BBQ has donated over $10 million to national and local charitable organizations.

The menu features a variety of meat, sandwiches and salads. The restaurant is open Monday through Saturday 11 a.m.- 9 p.m. and Sunday 11:30 a.m.-8 p.m. The restaurant is closed for major holidays and closes early on New Year’s Eve, Super Bowl Sunday, Thanksgiving Eve, the first Monday in December and Christmas Eve. The restaurant currently has locations in 17 of the United States.

Mission’s BBQ is only seven minutes from Bethel University and would be a great place to get a quick lunch between classes. The restaurant gives back to national organizations that support our troops, so money spent at the restaurant goes back to a good cause. The next time students are looking for somewhere to eat, Mission’s BBQ would be a great place to try.
