Hol­i­day En­ter­tain­ment Re­view: A Pen­ta­tonix Christ­mas

MISHAWAKA–– The weather chang­ing means the hol­i­day sea­son is com­ing around the cor­ner. To get in the Christ­mas spirit, there are many mu­sic groups to lis­ten to, in­clud­ing Pen­ta­tonix.

The a capella group con­sists of Scott Hoy­ing, Mitch Grassi, Kirstin Mal­don­ado, Kevin Olu­sola and Matt Sallee. Hoy­ing, Grassi and Mal­don­ado went to high school to­gether and were a part of the orig­i­nal group. They started their ca­reer by win­ning NBC’s The Sing-Off.

Since 2011 when the band be­gan, the group has sold more than 10,000 al­bums world­wide and re­leased nine stu­dio al­bums, six ex­tended plays (EPs), eigh­teen sin­gles and fifty mu­sic videos. On Oct. 29, they re­leased their sixth Christ­mas al­bum.

The Christ­mas al­bum, ti­tled “Ever­green,” is a com­pi­la­tion of 14 songs, a blend of mostly Christ­mas songs and some oth­ers with a hol­i­day flair. Some of the tracks in­clude “Home for the Hol­i­days,” “Won­der­ful Christ­mas­time,” “The Prayer,” “I Just Called To Say I Love You” and “We Wish You A Merry Christ­mas.” 

The group tours around the world, mak­ing known their bub­bly pop cov­ers and orig­i­nals. They will be tour­ing for this al­bum be­gin­ning Dec. 18 at the Tar­get Cen­ter in Min­neapo­lis, Minn.
