MISHAWAKA- In the fall semester of 2021 Bethel University opened the Writing Center. The Writing Center is staffed by students representing several majors and is overseen by Assistant Professor of English Tara Holmes, M.Ed.

Bethel University received a one-year grant from the Higher Education Emergency Relief Fund (HEERF) to help fill in the gaps in student writing abilities caused by the pandemic. This grant money funded the opening of the Writing Center. According to Holmes, the center was able to help 400 students improve their writing during the fall semester. Many of the writing coaches have also been hired as teaching assistants for specific classes to help students with their writing.

For this new spring semester, the Writing Center has a new page on the Bethel University website as well as an Instagram account to better help students access someone who can assist them with their writing.

The Writing Center is open from 2 p.m. till 5 p.m. and from 8 p.m. till 10 p.m. Monday through Thursday.  Students do not need to make an appointment for the center.
