Mishawaka – Do you like donuts? Do you like running or walking around campus? If so, sign up for the Rise ‘N Run 5k race taking place on campus on Saturday, October 21st at 9 a.m.! Everyone who participates in the race will receive a Rise ‘N Roll donut and a t-shirt to commemorate their experience. This is the second year Bethel is having this race after a positive response last year. The Rise ‘N Run race started as part of homecoming weekend and was an invitation for alumni to come back and be part of a fun event on campus. When the alumni office planned the race, they knew alumni would be nostalgic for the food they had while in college, especially Rise ‘N Roll donuts. Even though the race was started as a way to reach out to alumni, it is open for all students and staff to join. Rise ‘N Roll and Fleet Feet are both sponsors this year, and the hope is that there will be a larger group running the race this year. I spoke with Keith Koteskey, who has been enthusiastic about donuts and the race, and he said his favorite moment of the race, “other than eating a donut, which probably was my favorite, would be that at the end of the race I had an opportunity to visit with a number of Bethel graduates…it was really a joy of reconnecting with them and hearing what they’re up to these days.”
There will be a small fee of $10 for anyone who wants to participate. If you would like to join the race, please see the TV screens in SG and around campus to scan the QR code on the race’s poster!
