MISHAWAKA—Dr. Theodore Williams was given the opportunity to speak at Purdue Northwest this past week as the keynote speaker for their Martin Luther King Jr. Community Celebration. He spoke at both campuses of Purdue Northwest: the campus in Westville on Monday and the campus in Hammond on Tuesday.

The first event on Monday was attended by the community and staff at the college, while the event on Tuesday was attended by middle schoolers, high schoolers and college students. The theme of the program this year was, “A Global Vision for Justice,” and Williams was able to challenge the community and students in how we look at Martin Luther King Jr. and how it applies to us. He also spoke on the relevance of Martin Luther King Jr. Day.

Some of the highlighted principles emphasized in Williams’ speech were: find your calling, have some passion, pay your dues, utilize your platform, establish your credibility (integrity and consistency) behind the scenes, and be willing to make sacrifices.

Williams is from Michigan City near Purdue Northwest; being asked to speak as the keynote speaker for this Martin Luther King Jr. Community Celebration was an honor for Williams.
