Bethel Pi­lots Com­pete in NAIA Swim­ming Na­tion­als

MISHAWAKA – The Pi­lots men’s and wom­en’s swim team re­cently trav­eled to Knoxville, Ten. for the NAIA Na­tional Swim­ming Cham­pi­onship. The men fin­ished the cham­pi­onship with eight pro­gram records, three top 20 per­for­mances and two top 25 per­for­mances. Arik Gam­ble, Dy­lan De­long, Nick Jozwiak and Lo­gan Berndt fin­ished the 800 free re­lay in 18th place, 17th place in the 200 free re­lay pre­lims and es­tab­lished a new pro­gram record. Nick Jozwiak, Al­fonso Flo­res, Lo­gan Berndt and Arik Gam­ble fin­ished in 19th place in the 400 med­ley re­lay pre­lims and es­tab­lished a new pro­gram record. Lo­gan Berndt also es­tab­lished a new pro­gram record in the 50 free and the 100 fly pre­lims.  

The women fin­ished top twelve in the na­tion in both the 200 free re­lay and the 400 med­ley re­lay and broke pro­gram records in seven of twelve events they com­peted in. Sarah Hyska, Vivi­enne Kun­kler, Abi­gail Barnes and Elis­a­beth Wolfe fin­ished in 14th place in the 400 free re­lay fi­nals, break­ing a pro­gram record. Vivi­enne Kun­kler fin­ished 13th in the 200 breast fi­nals, break­ing a pro­gram record. Elis­a­beth Wolfe fin­ished 18th in the 100 free pre­lims, break­ing a pro­gram record.
