Men’s tennis season comes to an end

After a hard loss to Huntington, the Bethel Pilots men’s tennis team fall season is over. “It’s tough to end a season with a loss,” said junior Rosten Hamman. “But I had a fun time throughout the season.” The Pilots opened the Mid Central Conference championship against top-seeded Huntington University, a team the Pilots had lost to 1-8 earlier in the season. While the Pilots fell to the Foresters 7-2 overall, Hamman said that the team overall played better against them, losing a few close matches by a few points. Getting wins for the pilots was Brett Steller at the number six singles by the score of 6-3, 7-6. Also, Steller and Caleb Hadden won number three doubles for the Pilots 8-6. “We worked hard off each other and were very uplifting,” said Hamman. “I will miss not playing with my teammates now that the season is over.” However, the team will be swinging their rackets again in the spring when their spring season starts. They will play several non-conference matches in the spring. This will be a great chance for them to push each other and get better. With only one senior on the team and a strong core of juniors returning for the Pilots, they have high hopes for next year. Hamman said the Pilots are striving to all get better during the off-season. They hope to challenge one another on the tennis court while being friends and hanging out during the snowy winter months.
