Lady Pilots let early lead slip at Indiana Wesleyan

Wildcats are now the only team to defeat the Lady Pilots twice this season. Bethel jumped out to a quick 7-0 lead and would not turn back for the rest of the half as they led at the break 27-21. Despite the Lady Pilots desire to run the court, they were executing their half-court offense and showing Indiana Wesleyan they could compete at any style of game. The Lady Pilots came out in the second half with an early basket from Georgia Boisse followed by Sarah Clark making one of two free throws. This gave the Bethel their largest lead of the afternoon at 30-21. However, something seemed to click for the Wildcats as they not only recovered within the next several minutes, but took a 51-40 lead with five minutes remaining. Despite the sense of let down from the Lady Pilots, they fought their way back to cut the lead to four points with a 1:30 remaining. Nevertheless, Indiana Wesleyan proved their number one ranking with the way the closed out the game and eventually claimed a seven point victory. Kristin Hicks led the Lady Pilots with 13 points, while Georgia Boisse and Laura Johnson each chipped in 10. This loss drops Bethel to 11-5 in the MCC, but they still maintain a one game lead over Grace for second place. The Lady Pilots will meet Grace on Feb. 14 at home, which will be a crucial MCC battle. Tip-off for that game is scheduled for 6 p.m.
