Men’s soccer team ends conference win streak with 3-1 loss to Taylor

Though the men’s soccer team has conquered the last three MCC titles, they were convincingly defeated on Sept.28 by the Taylor Trojans by a score of 3-1. The Pilots knew going into the matchup that it would be a difficult road test as the Trojans are currently ranked 23rd in NAIA and have proven that they are a legitimate MCC contender. Several minutes before the first half ended, Taylor was able to put a ball in the back of the net off of a rebound situation. Nevertheless, Bernardo Sant’Anna evened the game at 1-1 with a breakaway goal less than four minutes into the second half. From there it was all Taylor as they would score twice more by the end of the night, not allowing the Pilots to capitalize on any opportunities given. This is a tough and rare MCC loss for the Pilot men’s soccer team and they will be given a chance to bounce back this Saturday as they host Spring Arbor at 7 p.m. The Cougars are currently 2-0 in the conference and are coming off of a late 2-1 win over Marian in the second extra time period. This will be a crucial game for the Pilots in order to not fall below .500 in the MCC and continue their quest to another MCC title.
