Swim Team Earns Victories on Senior Night

ELKHART– On Jan. 21, the Bethel swimming and diving team recognized senior night while competing against Olivet College and Manchester University. The team celebrated eight seniors. 

The Pilots swept the day with wins over both of their opponents. The men’s team won 227 to 58 against Olivet and 224 to 65 against Manchester. The women’s team won 179 to 75 against Olivet and 202 to 50 against Manchester. 

These games were the team’s last match-up before the championship. The Pilots will be heading to Fremont, Neb., to compete with the KCAC Championship from Feb. 2-4  

Here are some highlights from the team’s season so far. Nick Bohm (2022 NAIA National Champion) set a school record for the 1 Meter Dive (11 Dives) event with a score of 409.55. Emma McNamara recorded a time of 1:24.55 in the 100 Yard Breaststroke. In the 200 Yard Freestyle, Emma McClelland recorded a time of 2:10.04. Manel Casado was able to record a time of 50.30 in the 100 Yard Freestyle and a time of 2:05.66 in the 200 Yard IM. Finally, Joe Sheets recorded a time of 5:12.98 for the 500 Yard Freestyle.
