MISHAWAKA- On Thursday, Feb. 17, the Financial Aid Office held an open house for students to connect with the staff and ask any questions they might have.

According to Bev Wagnerowski, a financial aid counselor, not very many returning students had been filling out their Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FASFA). She said that the earlier a student fills out the FASFA, the more likely they are to receive scholarships and other financial aid. The Financial Aid Office decided to hold an open house to engage with students and encourage filling out their FASFA so they can get as much financial help as possible. The goal of this event was to help students become more familiar with the financial aid office and meet the people who work there so they will be more comfortable going to the office when they have questions or need help.

As part of the open house, students were able to enter giveaways for things like gift-cards or gas cards. The biggest giveaway, which has not yet concluded, is for a $2,500 scholarship. The scholarship giveaway closes on Tuesday, March 1. All Bethel students who have filled out their FASFA will be entered to win. They plan to announce the winner on Friday, March 4.
