MISHAWAKA- Bethel University hosts campus intramurals for students to participate in during the school year. These sports are fun events for students and provide a way for the students to play sports without being on a college-level competitive team.
This spring semester the sports futsal and pickleball were chosen as Bethel’s intramural sports. Both of these sports are ones they have done in the past but it has been a few years since futsal. According to Nick Geever, the Resident Director of Oakwood who oversees intramurals, there has been good participation in the sports this semester. Geever mentioned that specifically with futsal they had a lot of participation from students who have not participated in the past.
Pickleball started after spring break and it will continue till the end of April. The intermural team is planning to partner with campus activities to hold a one-day volleyball event to raise money to support Ukraine. This event is scheduled to take place on April 10th.
Geever said that this year has been good for intramurals. They have had some issues with scheduling and hope to fix some of those problems next year by working more with other departments on campus.
