Pi­lots Com­pete in NC­CAA Cham­pi­onships

CEDARVILLE – On Fri­day, Feb. 10, the Pi­lots’ track and field team trav­eled to OH, for NC­CAA in­door cham­pi­onships. This con­fer­ence lasted Fri­day and Sat­ur­day, and the lady Pi­lots tied for third place over­all (of eigh­teen) with 77 points, while the male Pi­lots fin­ished eighth place over­all (of eigh­teen) with 40.50 points.  

High­lights from day one fea­tured Bri­anna Hooton, Na­talie Gon­za­lez, Ki­lynn Guiler and Vladlena Kly­mova, who did a great job se­cur­ing sec­ond place in the 4x200-me­ter re­lay with a time of 1:48.42. El­isha Flem­ing fin­ished sec­ond over­all in the men's hep­tathlon with a fi­nal mark of 4221 and placed in the top three for six of his seven events.  

High­lights from the sec­ond day again fea­tured Bri­anna Hooton, who se­cured first place in the wom­en’s 400-me­ter dash with a time of 1:00.58. Vladlena Kly­mova, Cai­lyn Pen­te­cost, Ri­ley Her­sh­berger and Bri­anna Hooton scored third place in the wom­en’s 4x400-me­ter re­lay with a time of 4:10.03. Madi­son Kauff­man earned third place in the wom­en’s weight throw with a dis­tance of 15.68 me­ters. Bren­nen Bargesser se­cured sec­ond place in the men’s 200-me­ter dash with a time of 22.58. 

The sea­son is not yet over for these teams; there are still a few more meets on the docket. The next meet will be held at In­di­ana Wes­leyan Uni­ver­sity in Mar­ion Ind. Feb. 17-18, and the NAIA Cham­pi­onship will take place in the be­gin­ning of March at South Dakota State Uni­ver­sity. That cham­pi­onship will con­clude the in­door track sea­son, and the out­door track sea­son will start at the end of March.
